Color Still Life
The final still life done in pencil is made up of colored objects. Up until now the students have been drawing white objects. Color introduces a new element to their drawing. Not only do they need to shade according how the light plays off of the objects, but they also need to be able to indicate color using various shades of gray. As always emphasis is put on sketching the still life lightly and quickly first. In fact, this assignment requires students to show the teacher their light preliminary sketch before moving on to shading.
